| Getting to Pacific Rim Motel
It's easy to find your way on the provincial highways from one side of Vancouver Island to the other. A single road runs the entire length of the island, from Victoria to Port Hardy. This highway (locally called the Island Highway) has two numbers. The southern portion, between Victoria and Nanaimo (70 miles, 113 km), is part of the Trans-Canada Highway system and is designated Highway 1. The rest of the route (243 miles, 391 km) between Nanaimo and Port Hardy is Highway 19.
Pacific Rim National Park, and the West Coast communities of Tofino and Ucluelet are reached by taking Highway 4 (from Parksville). If you are coming from the ferry terminal at Horsehoe Bay and sailing to Nanaimo.
Proceed north on Highway 19 to the HIGHWAY 4 EXIT to Port Alberni. The exit is about 45 km north of the Nanaimo ferry terminal.
Highway 4 passes through Port Alberni, about 30 miles (50 km) west of Parksville. Once on the west side of the island, the Highway divides at the Ucluelet Travel Information junction where you can continue heading either to the south, 5 miles to Ucluelet (8 km) or north, 21 miles (34 km) to Tofino.
Pacific Rim Motel is on the main street that runs through Ucluelet - 1755 Peninsula Road. View Map
